FOUR PEOPLE were killed when a train collided with an ambulance in Monte Redondo, Leiria, on Tuesday.
According to eye witnesses, the ambulance carrying three passengers crossed the tracks when the barriers were down and was pushed around 600 metres along the line after the collision with an oncoming train around 10am.
The victims were the ambulance driver, Silvia Pedrosa, aged 38, and her three passengers José Mira, 75, his wife Cesarina, 73 and their daughter Maria, 49.
None of the passengers travelling on the train were injured.
