A couple, described as in their 70s, was hurt today when their pick-up truck was involved in a collision with a train travelling from Faro towards Portimão.
The accident happened at the Poço Barreto level crossing, in the borough of Silves.
The pick-up was badly damaged along one side, while its occupants have been transported to Faro hospital.
Initial reports say it is unclear whether this was a genuine accident, or whether the driver of the pick-up truck ignored the fact that the crossing was closed, and a train approaching.
