A Comboios de Portugal (CP) train, travelling on the Algarve line, crashed into a car at a level crossing four kilometres west of Faro last Saturday.
Although the vehicle was severely damaged, there were no casualties in the accident, a spokesperson for CP confirmed. The collision took place around 3.30pm and while the wreckage was removed from the site there was considerable disruption to many train services for the rest of that day.
