Tragedy as four-year-old falls eight floors in Loures

A four-year-old boy died yesterday evening after falling eight floors from an apartment block in Loures.

Rescue workers battled “for a long time” to save him, but his injuries were just too bad. Death was declared at the scene as the dismal investigation as to what may have happened began.

According to reports, the child’s parents were out when he fell, but he was in the charge of an adult relative.

The family has been given psychological support as friends and neighbours held a candle-lit vigil.

The accident happened on Rua Vasco da Gama, near the Infantado primary school, writes Público, recalling that in February another child fell 21 floors to her death in Lisbon (click here).
