Sudden death is how the news has been reported that a British holidaymaker died on the Lagoa beach of Pontal on Saturday.
According to reports, the 56-year-old man was enjoying a trip on a tourist boat, when he decided to dive off it and swim to the nearby beach – accessible only from the water.
By the time he got there he was feeling bad, explains Correio da Manhã – and he then lost consciousness.
A lifeboat crew from Ferragudo sped to the scene, backed by INEM emergency personnel, but all efforts to revive the man were fruitless.
