PROTESTERS WERE out in force on Saturday morning in Silves to show their opposition to electricity company REN’s plans to erect pylons through Vale Fuzeiros, Casa Queimada and Bicas.
Traffic came to a standstill as protesters got in their cars and drove slowly through the city centre waving banners and honking their horns.
Local residents said they would continue to protest the proposed pylon route through an archaeologically significant area for as long as it took for them to be taken seriously.
