Promoting the traditions of the region through food, crafts and entertainment is the aim of the second annual Traditional Festival of São Bartolomeu de Messines, which will be taking place on September 17 and 18.
The festival has been organised jointly by the parish council of Messines with local associations, institutions, artists and producers and is supported by Silves Câmara.
A spokesman from Silves Câmara said: “This event aims to streamline and revitalise the local and regional traditions combining crafts, cuisine, regional products, confectionary and culture in a single weekend of festivities.”
Also at the festival will be an exhibition of antique toys, a parade of classic cars and live entertainment, including a harp concert and folklore performances.
The Traditional Festival will take place in the municipal gardens of Messines from 10am until midnight on September 17 and from 10am until 10pm on September 18.
