São Brás de Alportel will be hosting Feira da Serra this weekend (July 28, 29 and 30), a festival of sounds, traditions and flavours from Serra do Caldeirão. This popular annual fair, held in the grounds of Escola E.B 2 3 Poeta Bernardo de Passos, showcases traditional gastronomy and handicrafts, and also offers a varied entertainment programme, with something for all ages.
According to the organisers, the fair comprises of “11 worlds to explore”, encompassing gastronomy, handicrafts and sweets, art, associations and special interest groups, horses, fauna of the Algarve, entertainment for children, shows, craft demonstrations, agriculture and the cork industry.
There will be entertainment throughout the evening, featuring various folklore troupes, local music and dance groups, as well as performances by well-known Portuguese bands, Marenostrum and Vitorino.
Opening at 6pm, the fun continues until 2am on Friday and Saturday (July 28 and 29) and until 1am on Sunday July 30).
Entrance costs three euros and children aged 10 and under go free!
