At Gaspacho & Migas, they are passionate about what they do, and that passion translates into what they call a ‘cuisine of emotions’.
To create the food they serve, they constantly do intensive research into old and traditional recipes from the Algarve and Alentejo regions, freshen them up, and adapt them to our days. However, they are quite cautious in what preserving the original flavours is concerned, whilst, at the same time, they always add something modern, either through the cooking method or by using ingredients that will harmonise or intensify the flavours.
Since food and wine cannot be dissociated, they choose the wine according to the menu, which changes seasonally, so they have a rather diverse choice of Portuguese wines that make the ideal pairing for the delicious and comforting food of the Algarve and Alentejo. And to top off a remarkable meal in come the stunning conventual desserts that they have enriched with details that did not exist in our grandparents’ time.
“We believe that it is the passion we put into our dishes, and the choice of the wine that accompanies them, that led us to be recognised as one of the best restaurants, by the Expresso newspaper’s Boa Cama Boa Mesa Guide in 2021 and 2022, and as the Restaurant of the year 2021 by the Confraria dos Gastrónomos do Algarve”, they proudly tell us. “At Gaspacho & Migas we know that one of the secrets of food is to make it slowly, savour it even more slowly and… in good company!”, they add.
Located in Lagoa, they are open for dinner, Monday to Saturday from 6.00pm to 10.30pm, and a visit is highly recommended, so you can experience their ‘cuisine of emotions’, which brings the comfort of home in the flavours – reminding us of our Algarve and Alentejo roots – with a hint of sophistication in the preparation that transports them carefully into the 21st century.
