FROM JULY 8 to 17, Loulé will host the 14th annual Craftwork Fair, which is set to take place in the Lago do Palácio da Justiça.
About 75 exhibitors are expected to take part. Among the works on show will be items of pottery, leatherwork, patchwork, wooden toys and decorative arts. Gastronomy will also feature in the event with a space specially set aside for six small cafés where visitors will be able to sample the various delights of traditional regional cooking.
A full schedule of musical entertainment runs for the duration of the fair, with a variety of traditional Portuguese musicians and ensembles, such as Vá-de-Viró, O’questrada, Moças Nagradadas, Moçoilas, among many others. Younger visitors will be entertained by story-tellers, face-painters, balloons and other children’s activities. Organised by Loulé Câmara and open from 8pm to midnight each day of the event, the fair is designed to promote regional craft workers and to boost inland tourism. Entrance is free.
