Tradition with a twist

If there was one tradition worth celebrating in the English village of years gone by, it was the church fête. All the worthies of the village assembled in one place and sold their old possessions, their crafts and cakes. There was a tombola, a raffle and any number of games for the children to enjoy.

On May 15 St. Vincent’s will be recapturing the traditions of the old church fête and adding the extra ingredients and fun which are unique to the fifth annual Country Fayre in Lagoa’s Fatacil fair ground.

Wise parents will already have marked the date in their diaries, as their children can be guaranteed a fun afternoon and enjoy a variety of games, donkey rides, a clown and non-stop entertainment.

The fayre will have everything you might expect. The children will have fun, you’ll be able to pick up bargains on the bric-a-brac stalls, snap up the home-made produce and have a good browse around the commercial stalls.

There will be more catering outlets this year and some exciting prizes in the Grand Draw. Tickets are now on sale for one euro each and can be obtained by contacting Pamela Brown on 289 322 578.
