Faro Câmara has removed and relocated the open air traders who formerly operated in Largo de São Luís.
According to the Câmara the area was a chaotic cluster of tents, which did not meet minimum standards of hygiene and health to be open to the public.
The traders are now operating out of the municipal market.
A spokesman for Faro Câmara said: “This operation solved a problem that had been dragging on for decades and will provide a better image for the city.”
