A new town plan (Plano de Pormenor, or PP) for the Paul de Lagos wetland area is now available for public consultation, announced Lagos Council.
The ‘detail plan’ proposal is open to “complaints and suggestions” until October 13.
The plan spans a 530-hectare area near one of the town’s main entrances. Says the council, the PP features seven main projects totalling an investment of around €16.5 million.
Priorities are the “recovery and renovation of the Ribeira de Bensafrim, the creation of an interpretative centre and installation of new signposting”, said the council.
Also included in the PP is the “eradication of exotic invasive species” and the creation of a 24.4- hectare park (the size of around 25 football fields), which would include the relocation of the municipal aerodrome and firing range.
Says the council, the projects are expected to be completed within 10 years.
The Plano de Pormenor is available for consultation on the council’s website (click here) or in person at the ‘Divisão de Urbanismo, Licenciamento e Fiscalização’ of Lagos’ town hall.
