A strong field of ladies competed for the title and prize money recently in exciting matches in the Sovereign series tournaments at Carvoeiro Clube de Ténis.
Hotel Carvoeiro Sol, the sole sponsor of the ladies tournament, made this traditional event possible again. Ronald Henneberke, tournament director and organiser, explained: ”Some of the players have known each other from the very first tournament, which took place 10 years ago. This gives the event a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. I was also very pleased with the quality of the matches and the sportsmanship of the players”.
Luísa Gouveia won the ladies singles final against Gaby Koplin 6:0, 6:1. The ladies doubles was won by LuísaGouveia/Carolina Mendonça against Gaby Koplin/Elisabeth Endres 6:3, 6:0.
