Tournament celebrates Dutch Queen’s birthday

THE FIFTH Koninginnedag Tournament, to celebrate the birthday of Her Royal Highness Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands, will take place at Castro Marim Golfe and Country Club, on Saturday, April 30. This year’s tournament will be extra festive as it will also be celebrating the Queen’s silver jubilee.

Around 100 Dutch golfers will come together dressed in the royal Dutch colour, orange. The teams will play to win the first prize, which is a year’s membership with Castro Marim Golfe and Country Club. With a shotgun start at 10am, teams will depart for a round of golf. On various holes, a royal fun element has been implemented.

After the tournament, festivities will continue at the clubhouse, where a Royal barbecue will be served. Musicians and various other acts will entertain golfers and the famous Dutch liquor, Oranjebitter, will put a crown on the day!
