Monchique Câmara is due to put projects out to tender after the summer for the construction of 1,350 tourist beds, which will triple the council’s current capacity for tourist accommodation.
Carlos Tuta, President of Monchique Câmara, said that 950 tourist beds will be located in Monchique parish council and a further 400 in Marmelete parish.
According to Carlos Tuta, there are a number of investors who are looking to commit to projects in the council.
These projects are part of the regional land development plan, which has allocated a total of 24,000 new tourist beds for the region.
