A new tourism office was officially opened in Tavira on June 21 by the president of the Algarve tourism board, António Pina, and Tavira Câmara president, Jorge Botelho.
It is located in the soon-to be-inaugurated Islamic Museum in the historic Praça da República.
António Pina said the tourism office in the city is the third most visited in the region after those in Faro and at Faro airport.
Câmara president Jorge Botelho said that the new office was part of restoration works in the historic centre of Tavira, which represent a total investment of €1.5 million and will include the Islamic Museum.
