Entrepreneur || Very often referred to as the Father of Algarve Tourism, 82-year-old visionary and entrepreneur André Jordan has picked up a new award to add to his already more-than-impressive list of personal accolades.
Jordan was presented with a “World Travel Leaders Award” at the World Travel Market 2014 in London. The award aims to “congratulate and recognise those companies and individuals which have made significant contributions to travel and tourism in their region or sector”.
As a choice, he was in a field of his own. His flagship Quinta do Lago resort, created over 40 years ago, is “still considered one of the most prestigious developments in the world”, said a release published on Global Travel and Industry News.
Many more projects followed and throughout the André Jordan Group “has been committed to sustainable development”.
As WTM’s senior director Simon Press said, “André Jordan has been instrumental in helping develop the Algarve into the popular resort destination it is today”.
Jordan was awarded with this latest prize along with Eduardo Nascimento, President of Nascimento Turismo Operadora (Brazil), James Liang, Chairman and CEO of Ctrip.com (China), Jehangir Katgara, Chairman & Managing Director of TBI Trail Blazer Tours India Private Limited, Venetian Villas (Italy), the Association of Tour Operators (Russia), and Tursespaña (Spain)
