A public company is being set up by the regional tourism board (ERTA) to manage the 21 tourist information offices across the Algarve.
According to ERTA president Nuno Aires, the company will open new business opportunities, such as the sale of last minute accommodation, products and concert tickets at the offices.
The company is to be entirely supported by public funds.
“The idea is to maintain all of the benefits and ties of the staff to the civil service. Staff will also be able to choose whether to be employed by the company or the ERTA,” said Nuno Aires.
