The Casas Brancas network of tourism providers has been totting up the damages suffered by associates in the fire that began last Saturday and says government help is “essential and indispensable”. It is not just a question of material damages, president of the network Monica McGill tells Lusa, but damages in terms of tourists that have cut their stays short and/ or cancelled. She stressed that at least 20 business have been affected – and that’s just within the Casas Brancas network.
