MORE THAN 26,000 people accessed the Algarve Tourism Board’s website, www.visitalgarve.pt to check its webcam and live weather station between January 16 and April 10 this year. According to the Tourism Board, if the trend continues, by the end of the year, these two online services will have registered around 79,000 visitors.
Over the period surveyed, 65 per cent of online visitors were Portuguese, eight per cent British and four per cent were from Spain.
The webcam allows the online visitor to see the weather in real time from strategic points in Faro, while the weather station makes information available concerning air and sea temperatures, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and a weather forecast for the forthcoming period.
