Tourism board promotes Algarve in Lisbon and Spain

The Algarve’s tourism board (RTA) will be promoting the region at two fairs in November – the Expo Abreu 2015 in Lisbon (November 7-8) and FEHISPOR in Badajoz, Spain (November 19-24).

Expo Abreu – organised by travel agency Abreu – promotes winter destinations, and is seen by the RTA as a chance to bring more tourists to the Algarve during the low season. Visitors to the RTA stand will be able to taste some of the region’s “best wines”.

FEHISPOR, on the other hand, is considered the “main tourism fair of the Extremadura” and an opportunity to bolster Spanish interest in the Algarve. Showing off our cuisine will be one of the tactics used to lure Spanish tourists to the Algarve, as the RTA stand will host a series of showcooking events showing how some of the region’s iconic dishes are made.

“These fairs are strategic for us, as they allow us to promote the destination in a direct and dynamic way,” tourism boss Desidério Silva affirmed.

He added that Spain is a “greatly important market for the Algarve” and that last year the number of Spanish overnight stays in the region grew 25%.
