Tourism board launches Algarve cycling guide

A 90-page guide detailing 41 of the Algarve’s best cycling routes has been launched by the Algarve Tourism Board (RTA) and Portugal’s Cycling Federation (FPC).

The book has been created to “promote the excellent conditions that the Algarve offers for outdoor activities, especially cycling”, says RTA.

The first guide of its kind, it is available online in Portuguese with an English version due later this year.

RTA spokesperson Patrícia Oliveira told us that the featured routes are divided into three areas (Western, Central and Eastern Algarve) and ranked according to difficulty. Each boasts a QR Code which cyclists can use to get more information via their smartphone.

“This is an innovative guide, released a year after we started developing the ‘Cycling & Walking’ tourist niche in the Algarve,” said RTA boss Desidério Silva.

Around 1,500 books will now be available at RTA promotional events, while digital copies can be downloaded from: http://www.visitalgarve.pt/pressroom.file.php?fileID=234&file=algarvepercursosciclismo_pt_v.web_5maio2017.pdf
