Che Lagoense’s debut at the European Club Badminton Championships in Holland probably exceeded all expectations.
The Algarvians opened their Group 2 campaign in Zwolle with a 5-2 victory over Irish side Mount Pleasant before thrashing Norwegians TBR 6-1.
The two wins set up an all or nothing decider with equally unbeaten tournament second favourites Bordeaux which was narrowly lost 4-3.
The victorious French then lost their semi-final to home side BC Duinwijcks who went on to claim the title against Van Zundert Velo in an all-Dutch affair.
With this experience under their belts, the Lagoa players will be eagerly looking forward to next year’s edition given that they retain their national title.
