ALGARVEMODA’05, a fashion show featuring some of Portugal’s best known models, will take place in Faro this Saturday July 23 at 9.30pm in Largo do Sé in the city’s historic centre.
The models will be displaying the Autumn collection of top Portuguese designer, Augustus, as well as clothes from up-market fashion stores from downtown Faro.The event will bring various famous top models to the Algarvian capital including Nayma, Isabel Figueira, Yorain and Raquel Loureiro among others, and there will be entertainment from popular Portuguese band, Anjos. Faro Câmara President, José Vitorino will be present, and, as in previous years, organisers expect to welcome many high profile members of the Portuguese jet set.The event alsoincorporates a competition to launch a new fashion designer, which is open to aspiring young designers aged under 25 from all over Portugal. The contest’s participants have been asked to present a design under the theme of Faro National Capital of Culture 2005. The prize for the winner is a week of training at the atelier of costumier, Augustus, with accommodation paid for by the council.
Entrance is free, but arrive early if you want to get a seat (or standing room)!
