Top line up for seniors’ tennis at Vale do Lobo

news: Top line up for seniors’ tennis at Vale do Lobo

FRESH FROM his stint in the commentary box at Wimbledon, the incorrigible enfant terrible of tennis, John McEnroe, will be back in the Algarve this summer to compete in the Vale do Lobo Grand Champions tennis event, taking place from August 2 and 5.

This is McEnroe’s third appearance in the tournament, which is an official fixture on the Delta ATP Tour, and this year he’ll be hoping to repeat the form that led him to win the event in 2002.

This year’s Grand Champions tournament welcomes a new name to the event – Pat Cash, the one time Wimbledon winner. Cash, now aged 40, has already made it through to the finals of several seniors’ tournaments this year, including Doha and Hong Kong, and should prove a strong opponent for McEnroe. This year’s line up for the tournament is reportedly the most impressive so far, and the remaining players are Mats Wilander, Jim Courier, Carl Uwe-Steeb, Emílio Sanchez, Paul Haarhuis and Portuguese veteran, Nuno Marques.
