Top bartenders compete

International bartending stars will be demonstrating their skills in the fourth edition of the Algarve Flair Challenge, which will take place on September 8 at the Fortaleza Café, in Armação de Pêra, at 3.30pm.

The competition carries a main prize of €1,200, but other surprise rewards will be given out by the sponsors.

This year the jury will include Miguel Duarte, the winner of the second Algarve Flair Challenge edition and a regular national representative in international competitions, Nuno Curro, the champion of the first edition, and Artur Woj, the organiser of the event and the head of the ProgressBarEvents company.

The final results of the competition will be known at midnight, followed by a party half an hour later.

Flair bartending is mostly described as the act of bartenders entertaining clients or audiences by manipulating bar paraphernalia, such as cocktail shakers and liquor bottles in skilful and stunning ways.

Professional bartenders argue that the action is more than just juggling bottles and consider it to be more of an art form limited only by the imagination.

The competition will be supported by the World Flair Association (WFA) and sponsored by Finest Call Premium Cocktails Mixes, as well as Red Bull and Bols Liquers.
