This year’s season of international wine competitions has started with good results for the Algarve wines of Marquês dos Vales from Estômbar wine and art park Quinta dos Vales.
Earlier in March it achieved the first success at the China Wine & Spirits Awards (CWSA), the biggest and most prestigious wine competition in Hong Kong.
Quinta dos Vales found itself amongst the winners of the CWSA Best Value 2013, being awarded a Double Gold Medal for its Marquês dos Vales Selecta Red 2010 and snatching the trophy for Portuguese Wine Producer of the Year 2013.
In the last couple of weeks, new results have been released. The Marquês dos Vales Touriga Nacional 2009 was recently awarded a Silver medal in the Sommelier Wine Awards 2013, organised and judged by the UK’s “on-trade”.
The fifth Grande Mostra de Vinhos de Portugal, which was held in Albufeira’s Espaço Multiusos (EMA) from May 11 to 13, brought another award for Quinta dos Vales’ wines. The Marquês dos Vales Selecta Rosé 2012 was awarded a Silver medal in the Primeiro Concurso de Vinhos Nacionais organised by Confraria do Bacchus de Albufeira, who are also the show’s organisers.
