The British botanical artist’s collection will be displayed at the Escola de Artes Mestre Fernando Rodrigues from March 2 to 31.
The Escola de Artes Mestre Fernando Rodrigues in Lagoa is hosting Toni Dade’s “Botânica em Aguarela” (Watercolour Botanics) exhibition. The British artist’s watercolour collection will be displayed in the Manuela Vale gallery from March 2 to 31.
Toni Dade’s internationally awarded work consists of “watercolours inspired by years of close observation of nature in the interior Algarve”.
With these paintings, the artist hopes people will take time to “take a closer look at the visual wonders the natural world offers.”
Toni Dade trained in Natural History Illustration. In recent years she has exhibited “detailed botanical works in watercolour” at The Society of Botanical Artists, a medium she considers “ideal for delicate and descriptive studies”.
Based in São Bartolomeu de Messines, the artist gets her inspiration from her surroundings. “I live and work in a beautiful rural area of the Algarve. My time is divided between painting, teaching art, pilates, and caring for stray dogs and cats. As I walk with my furry friends, I am inspired and work with the beauty and decay of the seasonal nature around me,” she says.
The opening is scheduled on March 2 at 18:00.
The exhibition is free of admission and can be visited from Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 12:00 and 14:30 to 17:00.
