CLOSE TO 30,000 cigarettes and 800 cigars of various brands have been seized in Faro by customs officials.
The seizure was the result of an investigation into the suspicious behaviour of some passengers arriving at Faro airport, who were placed under surveillance.
The tobacco confiscated was found hidden in four suitcases belonging to a Ukrainian passenger. The amount of tax evaded by smuggling this amount of merchandise into Portugal is around 4,000 euros.
