Flooding in Lisbon

Tireless animal protectors rescue 30 dogs from floods in Loures

On such a terrible day in Greater Lisbon this is one of the better photos – strong, fearless men wading through floodwaters carrying terrified animals which would otherwise most likely have perished. This photo shows IRA workers (IRA standing for Intervenção Resgate Animal) changing lives for the better, yet again. Television reports have also shown IRA evacuating stranded animals in carryboxes, using kayaks. But these worried creatures were taken in the men’s arms, and are now safe, if not completely dry.
