Tiger wins fourth Green Jacket

news: Tiger wins fourth Green Jacket

Billed as the showdown between the ‘big four’, Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson, this 69th edition of the Masters in Augusta got off to a bad start, thunderstorms and torrential rain delaying tee-off by five-and-a-half hours. Once underway, it was however Chris di Marco who crashed the party going one shot clear after Round One with Singh and Mickelson in close attendance. It continued to pour but Tiger Woods was closing in on the leaders while Els dropped out of contention. Di Marco kept his lead right to the end with some excellent play only to be reeled in by the Tiger at the death forcing a play-off. Both recorded scores of 276, 12 under par, but Woods birdied the first extra hole to take the title. This was Woods’ fourth Green Jacket!
