Three women seriously injured after ‘break-away’ bus rams bus stop

An empty, driverless bus careered into a number of people waiting at a bus stop in Lisbon’s Gare do Oriente yesterday afternoon, leaving three women with serious injuries. A man who managed to jump to safety in time also had to be treated for light injuries. Bus company Alsa Todi has now opened an inquiry on how the accident happened. The bus should have been properly parked/ immobilised. According to reports, the bus driver – who was on a break until his next journey an hour later – “went into a state of shock”.
