Three people were killed and seven suffered injuries in a collision involving four vehicles on the IC1 road in Alcácer do Sal today (August 20).
The road accident happened near Palma at around 12.50pm on a stretch of the road which had three lanes – two going in the same direction and another in the opposite direction, reports Jornal de Notícias.
Two of the victims were already dead by the time emergency teams arrived, while a third victim died as authorities were waiting for a helicopter to arrive to airlift them to the hospital.
Another person was seriously injured and taken to Setúbal Hospital, while six others sustained light injuries.
GNR police are investigating the cause of the accident.
