Three injured in crash with ambulance near VRSA

Three people were left injured in a crash between a car and an ambulance in Aldeia Nova (Vila Real de Santo António) on Tuesday.

The driver of the car sustained serious injuries and had to be transported by helicopter to Lisbon after initially being taken to VRSA’s basic emergency service unit, said a source from Faro’s rescue operations command (CDOS).

The other victims were two firefighters who were in the ambulance and sustained minor injuries. Said the source, the ambulance was not transporting patients at the time.

The cause of the accident being investigated, the CDOS source added.
