Three arrested after police dismantle Olhão drug network

Three men were arrested and a large quantity of drugs confiscated when GNR police found a ‘highly sophisticated’ indoor greenhouse used to grow cannabis plants inside a warehouse in the industrial area of Olhão.

House searches were conducted last Tuesday (August 30) after police identified the greenhouse. A total of 366 cannabis plants and around 500 doses of cannabis-based drugs as well as other material linked to drug-dealing was confiscated.

One of the suspected drug dealers was arrested in his home, while the others were detained while driving to the warehouse.

Two are Portuguese, aged 31 and 35. The other is “foreign”, aged 40.

The men are all due to be heard by Faro’s DIAP (department of penal investigation).

This latest recovery operation followed a six-month investigation, GNR spokesperson Edgar da Palma revealed.
