Three hotels in the Algarve – Bela Vista (Portimão), Praia Verde (Castro Marim) and Cascade (Lagos) – have made the line-up of Portugal’s 10 best boutique hotels published online by travel website Trivago.
First on the list is the Bela Vista Hotel & Spa, located inside a historic 19th century building on Praia da Rocha’s cliffside.
Described as “the perfect combination between luxury and the beach”, the hotel is praised by writer Sara Vieira for its “elegant interior areas with subtle references to traditionally Portuguese designs” as well as its proximity to the beach, its private pool and “unique and charming rooms”.
Next up is Praia Verde in Altura, dubbed the perfect hotel for “foodies” as its restaurant Terra offers “delicious homemade food” made from local produce.
It is located near Ria Formosa and Guadiana River, and thus also offers great opportunities for birdwatching, boat trips and walks, Vieira explains.
Finally, Lagos’ Cascade Wellness & Lifestyle Resort is singled out for its “elegant, sophisticated, and five-star experience”, especially its “luxury spa” and kids club.
Also on the list are Fortaleza do Guincho (Lisbon), Areias do Seixo (Santa Cruz), LX Boutique Hotel (Lisbon), Tivoli Hotel (Lisbon), Farol Design Hotel (Cascais), 1872 River House (Porto) and Hotel da Vila (Madeira).
