Three Algarve boroughs among Portugal’s top 25

Faro (eighth), Portimão (16th) and Albufeira (19th) are among the top 25 municipalities in Portugal, according to city branding company Bloom Consulting.

The ranking is compiled every year and features all the nation’s boroughs – from best to worst – taking into account their performance in the categories of business, tourism and quality of life.

As usual, Lisbon leads the national ranking in all three categories, followed by Porto, Cascais, Braga, Coimbra, Sintra, Funchal, Faro, Setúbal and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Taking only the Algarve into account, Faro retained the first spot, leading the ranking in the categories of business and quality of life.

Portimão has trumped Albufeira to reach the second spot while Loulé is considered the fourth best municipality in the Algarve ahead of Tavira.

Lagos is placed sixth, ahead of Silves, Vila Real de Santo António and Olhão.

Aljezur and Vila do Bispo remain in the 10th and 11th spots, respectively, while Lagoa surprassed Monchique to reach 12th place.

At the bottom of the list are Castro Marim (14th) and Alcoutim (15th), with the last place on the regional list belonging to São Brás de Alportel.
