Thousands welcome 2024 in Quarteira

Quarteira welcomed thousands of revellers during its New Year’s festivities, which took place between December 28-31.

The traditional São Silvestre Race kicked off the programme on December 28 with one of its highest turnouts ever: around 1,500 participants.

The festivities continued the next night with performances by the Flashback Jukebox project and local artist Marc Noah, followed by a Dire Straits tribute band and DJ Kamala on December 30.

DJ Luíz Luiz was the opening act on the final night of the year, keeping revellers dancing until midnight, when a “pyromusical show” illuminated the skies of Quarteira. This was followed by a performance by ‘Quem é o Bob’, a tribute to Bob Marley.

Loulé Municipal Council has celebrated the success of Quarteira’s New Year celebrations, stating that the coastal area of the borough is a leading destination thanks to its hotels, businesses, sports facilities and countless other infrastructures.

We know how to welcome and create events that please the audience, and that makes all the difference when choosing a destination to spend New Year’s,” the local council said.
