It’s happening again. Today (Friday May 24) has seen the latest ‘climate strike’ by school pupils and students, with thousands taking to the country’s streets, waving banners and slogans and generally demanding that the government takes a stand to resolve the climate crisis.
Images of the events ongoing in Lisbon, Porto, Braga and Caldas de Rainha are gathering in number over social media as environmental groups like Climáximo do their best to ram the message home:
“Change the system, not the climate”.
Today’s protests are due to be followed by further events, as what is the third protest of this kind so far aims to build on youth support and plan a nationwide Earth Strike in September.
