Thousands of hairdressers investigated for tax evasion

Operation “Beleza Nacional” has sent hundreds of tax inspectors into over 6000 hairdressers, barbers and beauty parlours – and resulted in 400 fines for misdemeanours ranging from the ‘non-emission’ of receipts, to the simple act of simply ‘not being at the declared place of work’.

This last ‘act of alleged tax evasion’ will have centred on ‘travelling hairdressers’ who visit clients in their own homes.

Further checks are threatened, say reports which add that, under tax law, people are encouraged to try and claim ‘money back’ for hairdressing, but that according to the tax authority’s e-fatura Portal “there are no hairdressing receipts on file”.
