We all know a euro doesn’t buy a great deal these days. But from August 25 to September 8 one euro could buy you anything from quality women’s and men’s clothing to bric-a-brac, electrical goods and even furniture.
To celebrate its third anniversary, Madrugada, the Algarve-based charity supporting people with life limiting illness, is holding a Mad Sale where thousands of items in its Praia da Luz and Portimão charity shops are priced at only €1.
Madrugada President Alison Blair said: “During the last three years, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the expat community which has donated so many high quality goods. These have attracted a broad customer base to our shops ranging from expat and Portuguese residents to holidaymakers.”
“Our shops have become the lifeblood of our organisation, enabling us to assist people and their families affected by life limiting illness. Sometimes we only need to give advice while, at the other end of the scale, we have organised round the clock care in the home.”
As Madrugada enters its fourth year of existence, it needs to raise funds to train and employ full time nurses. For this, it has set a target of raising €100,000 and decided a Mad Sale was a good way of increasing public awareness while giving something back to the communities which have helped the charity through the recent years.
