ALTHOUGH THERE are still a few more shopping days till Christmas, why not get all your dates for 2006 down on a beautiful calendar and new addresses organised early this year?
Local artist Hazel (Sally) Dawson has been painting in the Algarve for about eight years and something which she humbly calls her hobby has enabled her to create a range of calendars and address books that definitely rival the ones you see gracing the shelves over the festive period.
The prints of the various European fruits featured on the calendars and address books actually start out life as a painting done by Sally on a porcelain tile. They are then photographed, sent to the printer and turned into the final product.
Perfect for gifts or for your own home, these calendars and address books are available at The Resident offices in Lagoa, the coffee shop at Porches Pottery, the Health and Beauty Centre at Rocha Brava, Descobertas in Lagos, Barnards Restaurant in Ferragudo and Joker Bar in Carvoeiro.
Best of all, any profits made from the sale of the stationery will go to children’s charity Associação de Solidariedade com as Crianças Carenciadas do Algarve (ACCA). Calendars are 10 euros each, address books 15 euros and if you buy both together as a special Christmas promotion, they cost 22 euros.
