IF YOU joined the more than 100 people for the seventh Annual Fundraising Dinner-Dance for Lagoa Voluntary Bombeiros, at the Fatacil grounds in Lagoa, on April 1, you were certainly not a fool! The raffle prizes were fantastic and three separate auctions helped to raise the total amount of the fund by 2,825 euros.
This year, many bombeiros also attended the event, thoroughly enjoying the evening and looking forward to joining the fun again next year. Howard Scott Parkin provided the music and organisers of the Dinner-Dance would certainly like to have him back next year, on March 3, for the eighth edition of the event.
Fundraiser Val Johnstone, a voluntary bombeiro herself, would like to thank those who so generously donated prizes for the raffle and auctions. They were: PDM Travel in Lagos, Moveison in Lagos, Sweet Marilyn, Hotel Garbe in Armação da Pêra, Cacto Restaurant in Odiáxere, Style Furnishings in Alcantarilha, Halcyon Cann, Debra Ferreira (Pilates instructor), Chiropractor Dr. Helder Prazeres in Portimão, Pingo Doce’s flower lady, Goodchilds, Sally Dawson, Oasis Restaurant in Carvoeiro, Tracey Hairdresser in Praia da Rocha, Do Eves from BUPA, Raul Hairdresser in Lagos, Sr. Lima from Fatacil Restaurant, Maureen Yould and Western Ladies Luncheon, Maria’s Pilates friends, Chloe Beautician from Total Harmony in Sesmarias, Nigel Vaughan for his original painting of the Bombeiros, Quinta da Boavista Golf and Alvor Flights in Penina. A generous donation was made by HOME in Lagoa and other, much-appreciated donations came from Mr. David Eastwood, Hannah and Heidi. Val would also like to thank Halcyon, Chris, Do, Julia, Maureen and Maria for their help in selling tickets and obtaining the prizes, and to Norma for the artistic drawings.
