The Philharmonic Silvense Society from Silves has a new artistic director who will be in charge of theatre productions this year.
Jackie O’Grady (pictured) studied Theatre Performance in Ireland and says she is “looking forward to putting on some fresh shows in Silves”.
Jackie will also partner with Sissi von Boden to provide theatre-dance lessons for teenagers aged 13 to 17. Sissi ran a dance school in Germany for 10 years.
Auditions for Jackie’s first play, Rhinoceros, by Eugene Ionesco will be held at the Philharmonic Society Silvense on Thursday, January 10 from 5pm to 10pm.
Stage designers, a sound and lighting designer and a costume designer are also required. “And anyone else who wants to get hands on,” said Jackie. “All levels of experience are welcome, young and old and from all backgrounds!”
