A tribute to the music and lyrics of American composer and songwriter Cole Porter will be performed by The Angels Theatre Group at Lethes Theatre in Faro, on November 2-3.
The celebration of the extraordinary talent of Cole Porter will include more than 20 of his songs selected from various musicals, but wrought into a story of its own for each performance.
Porter achieved success in the 1920s and 30s, becoming one of the main Broadway songwriters. Unlike most successful Broadway composers, however, he actually wrote his own lyrics for his musical pieces.
The group was founded in 2008 by Joy Behennah and Marion Griffiths, who saw an opportunity to provide light-hearted entertainment whilst raising money for local charities in the Algarve.
The first performance will begin at 8pm, but a pre-theatre cocktail will be available from 7pm, while the second show will be a matinee, starting at 3pm, which will include an extended interval, allowing the audience to enjoy an afternoon tea.
The shows will benefit The Faro Red Cross Organisation, and in particular their Home Support Service Project, which provides essential support to families in crisis.
