The road to Germany

news: The road to Germany

The latest round of World Cup qualifiers proved to be fairly inconclusive. In Group 4, Angola and Nigeria continue head to head after sharing a 1-1 draw in which Jay-Jay Okocha had given the Super Eagles a fifth minute lead. Morocco and Kenya also drew, neither team managing to score in the Group 5 tie, while Senegal and Group 1 leaders Togo made do with two goals apiece. Only Ghana made significant progress with a 2-0 victory in South Africa, Chelsea target Essien scored in the 90th minute, thus taking over at the top of Group 2 on goal difference.

Germany is expecting to be invaded by over 40,000 prostitutes during next year’s tournament. Christian Democrat MP, Dirk Lamprecht, has proposed erecting portable cabins outside major city centres to cope with the massive influx. The idea was inspired by similar ‘drive-in’ brothels already in use in Cologne.

What a drag

Germany’s Parliament has expressed the wish to ban smoking in all stadia hosting World Cup final games. Alcohol has already been forbidden, the stringent measures applying to all areas including VIP boxes.
