The right move – JLL arrives in the Algarve with a new office in Quinta do Lago

With offices in 80 countries e four shops in Portugal (Lisbon, Porto, Cascais and Comporta, the multinational JLL, a leading brand in the real estate sector, opened a new office last May in Quinta do Lago. We spoke with Patrícia Barão, head of Residential at JLL Portugal, to understand the move. “This was a topic we had already been considering because, as most of our clients are international, we began to receive more and more requests for properties in the Algarve, which, until now, were answered by our offices in Lisbon, Porto and Cascais. As our business in the region grew, we made the decision to set up a local office. Our clients come to us on the strength of the brand, and this way we can give them even closer support, based on a team that knows and works daily with the specificities of this part of the country.”

“During the pandemic, the Algarve emerged as one of the most alluring places in the world to live or invest in, not only for its climate but also for all the conditions it offers in what are the new post-pandemic needs, namely its quality of life, which is one of a kind in the world. As more people work form home, they choose to move permanently from the big cities where they lived, as all they need is access to broadband Internet and the leeway of mobility. An international airport in Faro answers the second part of the equation, allowing us to be anywhere in Europe within hours; and we have seen new developments and prime locations investing heavily on access to new technologies, particularly where Internet is concerned.”

According to the INE (National Statistics Institute), in 2020, and in 2020, and in relation to the previous year, there was growth in practically all nationalities of property buyers in the Albufeira-Loulé area, with Germany and American at the forefront, as they now represent 3% and 6% in this distribution. On the other hand, also in 2020, the average price per square metre of properties in the region increased by almost 10% overall and by 33% in new units, now standing at €1,861/m2 and €3,116/m2, respectively.

“For a brand such as JLL, which is growing, the move to the Algarve was almost a must. It is impossible to not want to live here! It is the best region in the country for everything: to work, to live, to study, and, of course, to invest,” says Patrícia Barão, although she admits she can be biased, as she has family in the Algarve and has enjoyed has enjoyed the region since she was a child.

JLL covers all areas of real estate, from residential to commercial, industrial, retail and hotels. Working with partners around the world to promote its property offer to clients on all five continents.
