An intense film from the director of Billy Elliot, surrounding an unlikely love affair between Michael and a much older woman, Hanna, in post World War II Germany.
The affair comes to an abrupt end leaving Michael distraught and heartbroken and it is only years later as he is working as a law student observing Nazi war crime trials that he finds Hanna again.
This time the circumstances have changed dramatically and the truths that are then uncovered will impact both their lives forever.
