A pig with extraordinary survival instincts has been voted China’s favourite animal by online voters at China Daily.
However, the celebrity status of the swine has led to it becoming fat, lazy and bad tempered, according to state media.
The pig was buried under rubble for 38 days after it became trapped following the earthquake in the Sichuan province in May 2008.
It survived by drinking rainwater and eating charcoal and has since become a popular tourist attraction.
Staff at the museum where he is now housed have said that he has now become fed up with all the attention.
“He has become fatter and lazier by the day. We used to take him for a walk every morning and afternoon but he is too lazy and too fat to do it anymore.”
